What you need

  • a pad of sticky notes
  • a marker

How to set it up

  1. Cover a door the kids pass at breakfast, like the pantry or a closet, with sticky notes, about ten across and ten down.
  2. Write GOOD MORNING across the middle, one big letter on each note.
  3. Sit your elf on the floor beside the door, against the wall, with the last note in their lap.

Safety check

Pick a door nobody walks through or past at night, so nobody steps on your elf in the dark. Sticky notes peel off cleanly, but skip doors with fresh paint, and use a washable marker, since permanent ink can bleed through onto the door. How we check

A pantry door covered in yellow sticky notes spelling GOOD MORNING, with an elf doll sitting on the floor against the wall beside it.

Note from your elf: I had one pad of sticky notes and a big dream.
