Your elf set up a reindeer food station for Christmas Eve, with a bag for each child to feed their own reindeer.

A 10-minute idea for The Elf on the Shelf® or any elf doll.

What you need

  • plain oats
  • small paper bags or envelopes
  • a marker

How to set it up

  1. The night before Christmas Eve, fill one small paper bag or envelope per child with a scoop of plain oats.
  2. Label each bag with a different reindeer's name, like Comet, Dasher or Rudolph.
  3. Set the bags beside your elf with the note, ready to sprinkle outside before bed.

Safety check

Use plain oats only. Glitter harms birds and other wildlife. How we check

An elf doll beside small paper bags of oats, each labeled with a reindeer's name.

Note from your elf: Your reindeer is hungry! Sprinkle the oats outside before bed so it finds your house.
