Jar of Leftover Magic

Your elf left a jar of leftover magic, for any day that needs a little extra.

A 10-minute idea for The Elf on the Shelf® or any elf doll.

What you need

  • a small clean jar
  • cotton balls, or white paper and scissors
  • a sticky note

How to set it up

  1. Fill a small clean jar with cotton balls, or with tiny snowflakes cut from white paper.
  2. Label it with a sticky note: Leftover Magic. Open on a hard day.
  3. Leave it with the note where your elf sat.

Safety check

Cotton balls can end up in little mouths, and glass can break. With a baby or toddler in the house, fill a plastic jar with the paper snowflakes and put the scissors away after cutting. If your elf sat up high, leave the jar somewhere low the kids can reach without climbing. How we check

A clear jar full of tiny paper snowflakes on a shelf, with a star drawn on its sticky-note label and a folded note beside it.

Note from your elf: Leftover magic, extra strength. Take one out on any day that needs a boost.
