Your elf hung a candy cane on the tree for every person in the family, each with a name tag.

A 5-minute idea for The Elf on the Shelf® or any elf doll.

  • 5 min
  • No mess
  • Easy
  • Ages 4–7, Ages 8+

What you need

  • wrapped candy canes
  • sticky notes and a pen

How to set it up

  1. Hang one wrapped candy cane on the tree for each person in the family.
  2. Fold a strip of sticky note around each one as a name tag, one name per cane.
  3. Sit your elf on a sturdy branch near the trunk, with one more candy cane tucked under an arm.

Safety check

Leave the candy canes wrapped, and hang them high if you have a dog. Keep your elf and the paper tags off the tree lights. Hard candy is a choking risk for kids under 4. How we check

Note from your elf: One for each of you, names and all. Mine is the one under my arm!
