What you need

  • a shoebox

How to set it up

  1. Set your elf in a shoebox, lid on loosely so their hat peeks out, and tie a ribbon around it.
  2. On three paper slips, write a riddle (What has hands but can't clap? A clock), a scrambled word (NOWS: SNOW) and a math problem.
  3. Tape the slips and the note to the lid.

Safety check

Keep ribbon away from babies and toddlers. How we check

A shoebox tied with ribbon, three paper puzzles taped to the lid and an elf doll's hat peeking out from under it.

Note from your elf: I built an escape room and locked myself in! Solve all 3 puzzles, then untie the box.
