Ice Fishing in the Freezer

Your elf went ice fishing in the freezer, with a pencil rod over the ice tray.

A 5-minute idea for The Elf on the Shelf® or any elf doll.

  • 5 min
  • No mess
  • Easy
  • Ages 4–7, Ages 8+

What you need

  • a pencil
  • string
  • sticky notes

How to set it up

  1. Tie a short string to a pencil and stick a fish cut from a sticky note to the end of the string.
  2. Sit your elf in the freezer by the ice tray or ice bin, the pencil across their lap and the fish in the ice.
  3. Stick a note on the freezer door: Gone ice fishing! Ask a grown-up to open.

Safety check

Open the freezer together in the morning, and never let kids climb on a freezer drawer. Keep the string short. How we check

Note from your elf: Caught one! It was a little frozen. Okay, very frozen.
